Baron Carl Friedrich von Krassow

Baron Carl Friedrich von Krassow (* December 16, 1771 ; † 1854 ) was a Swedish lieutenant colonel and honorary citizen of Stralsund .

Life

Krassow came from the baronial line of the Rügen noble family von Krassow . His parents were the royal Swedish court marshal Carl Georg von Krassow (1740–1779) and Jeanette Christiana von Essen (1754–1825), daughter of Chamberlain Friedrich Ulrich von Essen. Friedrich Heinrich von Krassow (1775–1844) was his younger brother.

In 1788 he went to the University of Göttingen with his brother Philipp Christian (1773-1808) , where his brother Friedrich Heinrich began his studies two years later. All three brothers went to Lausanne together in 1791 . In 1792 the siblings also undertook their cavalier tour together , which took them through Switzerland , Turin , Northern Italy, Venice and Vienna .

In 1793 Krassow went to Stockholm with his younger brother Friedrich Heinrich and joined the horse life guards with him as Cornett . In 1800 he was promoted to Rittmeister and was placed under the orders of his uncle, Hans Henrik von Essen . In 1802 he was appointed its wing adjutant . In 1807, after the Peace of Tilsit , Krassow received his farewell with the rank of lieutenant colonel .

Krassow was honored with the Swedish Order of the Sword as well as the Prussian Order of St. John and the Order of the Red Eagle 2nd class .

From his father's inheritance, Krassow was the master of Pansevitz . From 1806 to 1829 he also owned Saatel and Martenshagen . After a comparison with his siblings, he also received the Falkenhagen and Hankenhagen estates in 1825 . He also sold the Gagern estate in 1829.

On March 15, 1854 he was awarded the honorary citizenship of Stralsund for "services to the city and its people".
