Carnoux-en-Provence is a French municipality with 6600 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Bouches-du-Rhône in the region of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Marseille and the canton of La Ciotat . Carnoux-en-Provence is east of Marseille , between Cassis and Aubagne .

history

The Carnoux-en-Provence settlement was founded in 1957 by French returnees from Morocco. From 1962 returnees from Algeria also settled here. In 1966, Carnoux-en-Provence was spun off from the municipality of Roquefort-la-Bédoule and made an independent municipality.
