Caroline Harrison
Caroline Lavinia Scott Harrison (born October 1, 1832 in Oxford , Ohio , † October 25, 1892 in the White House , Washington, DC ) was the wife of US President Benjamin Harrison and the First Lady of the United States from 1889 until her death.
Her nickname was "Carrie". She was the second daughter of Mary Potts Neal and Reverend John W. Scott. On October 20, 1853, she married the law student and later President Benjamin Harrison. The couple had two children: Russel Benjamin (1854-1936) and Mary Scott (1858-1930).
Caroline contracted tuberculosis while serving as first lady and died a few weeks before her husband lost the election for a second term. For the remaining months of Harrison's tenure, her daughter, Mary Harrison McKee, served as first lady.
