Carrollton is a city and also the county seat of Carroll County in the US state of Georgia with 24,388 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Carrollton is located around 70 km west of Atlanta on the banks of the Little Tallapoosa River .
history
The city was founded on December 22, 1829. In 1874 Carrollton was connected to the railroad by the Chattanooga, Rome and Columbus Railroad . In 1906 the University of West Georgia was founded at Carrollton. On August 21, 1995, Atlantic Southeast Airlines Flight 529 crashed near the city.
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the then 24,388 inhabitants were distributed over 8,398 inhabited households, which gives an average of 2.51 people per household. There are a total of 9,734 households.
54.6% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring) with an average size of 3.10 persons. There were children under the age of 18 in 31.3% of all households and persons aged 65 or over in 21.7% of all households.
30.1% of the population were younger than 20 years, 38.6% were 20 to 39 years old, 18.1% were 40 to 59 years old, and 13.2% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 26 years. 47.5% of the population were male and 52.5% were female.
58.4% of the population identified themselves as whites , 31.9% as African American , 0.4% as Indians and 1.4% as Asian Americans . 5.1% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.8% to several ethnic groups. 10.8% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .
The average annual income per household was 37,074 USD , while 25.8% of the population lived below the poverty line.

Carrollton is crossed by US Highway 27 and Georgia State Routes 16 , 113 and 166 . The nearest airport is Atlanta Airport (around 70 km east).

The crime rate in 2010 was 621 points (US average: 266 points) in the high range. There were two murders, 13 rapes, 27 robberies, 276 physical injuries, 253 break-ins, 1107 thefts, 40 car thefts and ten arson attacks.
