Caryville is a city in Washington County in the US state of Florida with 411 inhabitants (as of 2010).

geography

Caryville is on the east bank of the Choctawhatchee River . The city is about 25 km west of Chipley and about 150 km west of Tallahassee .

history

The railroad age in Caryville began in 1883 with the opening of the Pensacola and Atlantic Railroad . They created a continuous rail link between Pensacola and Jacksonville .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 411 inhabitants were distributed over 110 households. The population density was 52.7 inh / km². 62.0% of the population identified themselves as whites , 32.6% as African-Americans , 0.2% as Indians and 0.5% as Asian Americans . 4.6% said they belonged to several ethnic groups. 2.9% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 36.7% of all households and persons aged 65 and over lived in 35.7% of all households. 60.2% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.62 people and the average family size was 3.53 people.

22.2% of the population were younger than 20 years, 43.8% were 20 to 39 years old, 21.6% were 40 to 59 years old, and 12.4% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 32 years. 67.4% of the population were male and 32.6% were female.

The median annual income was $ 31,563, with 30.3% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 100% of the population.
