Celine Marie Knudtzon Brun-Lie (born March 18, 1988 ) is a former Norwegian cross-country skier and biathlete . She started as a cross-country skier for the Njård club and as a biathlete for Oslo SSL . As a biathlete, however, she never took part in international races.
She is the sister of the biathlete Thekla Brun-Lie and the canoeist Agnes Brun-Lie.
Career
Celine Brun-Lie studies at the Technical and Natural Sciences University of Norway . She contested her first international race in November 2004 in Gålå as part of the FIS Cup . She achieved good results here very quickly. In January 2006 she took part in her first Junior World Championship in Kranj , where she won the bronze medal in the sprint competition behind Astrid Jacobsen and Natalja Matwejewa . In December of that year she won her first FIS race with a sprint in Gaalaa . At the Junior World Championships 2007 in Tarvisio , Brun-Lie missed another medal as fourth in the sprint. At the end of the 2006/07 season , the young Norwegian was used in Stockholm for the first time in the cross-country world cup ; The sprint specialist was 20th for the first time to collect World Cup points.
At the start of the following season , Brun-Lie finished 30th in the sprint in Düsseldorf and 13th in the team sprint together with Sigrid Aas . In Rybinsk she came in tenth in the sprint for the first time under the top ten in the World Cup. At the Norwegian Championships in 2008 in the Granåsen ski stadium in Trondheim , she just missed a medal in fourth. The Junior World Championships in Mals produced mixed results. Brun-Lie was second in the sprint qualification, but in the competition she only achieved 13th place. In the 5 kilometer race she was only 28th. The Norwegian relay team went far better. Together with Therese Johaug , Ingvild Flugstad Østberg and Marthe Kristoffersen , she won the gold medal in the relay race. At the end of the year, at the beginning of the 2008/09 season , the Norwegian was able to achieve a podium finish for the first time in the sprint race in Davos in second place, beaten only by Petra Majdič . A little later, she achieved second place again with Maiken Caspersen Falla in the Düsseldorf team sprint.
At the Norwegian Championships in Gjøvik in 2009 , Brun-Lie secured the sprint title for the first time. A little later she started at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2009 in Liberec . After rank 13 in the qualification, he finished 11th in the sprint. Brun-Lie achieved the same rank at the Sprint World Cup in Lahti . She finished the season a little later in 27th place in the overall World Cup standings. Brun-Lie took ninth place in the sprint world cup ranking.
In December 2009 Brun-Lie secured third place again in the team sprint in Düsseldorf. At the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver , she achieved a good sixth place in the sprint and fifth in the team sprint together with Astrid Uhrenholdt Jacobsen . In the overall World Cup ranking, she could not quite match her performance from the previous year and ended the season in 33rd place.
After Brun-Lie again achieved a podium place in the team sprint in Düsseldorf for the 2010/11 season , she achieved a podium place again in an individual World Cup with third place in Liberec . She also finished third in the team sprint at the same point. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo in 2011 , she crossed the finish line as 14th in the sprint.
In the 2011/12 season Brun-Lie struggled with poor results in the World Cup. Only in the team sprint and relay world cups she was able to achieve top 10 placements. It was not until the 2012/13 season that she found her way back to success in the individual disciplines and secured a podium again in the sprint in Quebec with third place.
At the Norwegian Championship 2013 in Gåsbu Brun-Lie secured the silver medal in the sprint. After she finished on the podium again at the World Cup in Sochi , she traveled to the 2013 Nordic World Ski Championships in Val di Fiemme . There Brun-Lie took 24th place in the sprint. A few weeks later, she finished her most successful season to date in 25th place in the overall World Cup ranking and sixth in the Sprint World Cup ranking.
For the 2013/14 season , Brun-Lie missed a further increase in performance. With poor results in the World Cup, she could not even qualify for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi . At the end of the season she finished in a disappointing 42nd place. In May 2014 she won the Svalbard skimaraton over 42 km classic. At the beginning of the 2014/15 season , she finished second in the sprint stage of the Nordic Opening in Lillehammer . This was followed by two third places in sprint races in Davos and Otepää that season . At the 2015 Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun , she came ninth in the sprint. After the season that she finished in seventh place in the sprint classification, she ended her career.
