Astrid Uhrenholdt Jacobsen (born January 22, 1987 in Trondheim ) is a former Norwegian cross-country skier .
Career
Early years
Uhrenholdt Jacobsen made her international debut as part of the Cross-Country Continental Cup in February 2004. She came in 16th place over 5 km in classic style in Hommelvik .
At the Norwegian Championships in Lillehammer in 2005 , she won silver in the sprint. On March 9, 2005, the Norwegian made her debut in the cross-country skiing world cup . In the sprint in Drammen , she finished 24th and thus also collected her first World Cup points. At the following Junior World Championship in 2005 in Rovaniemi , she had to admit defeat only Kari Vikhagen Gjeitnes in the sprint and won silver.
For the 2005/06 season Watches Holdt Jacobsen did not yet belong to the A-team. She started in lower class FIS races and later in the Scandinavian Cup. At the Junior World Championship in Kranj in 2006 , Uhrenholdt Jacobsen was able to secure the title in the sprint and over 5 km in the classic style. In the pursuit, she finished 35th. In March, Uhrenholdt Jacobsen started in Falun for the first time in the World Cup, but as 53rd clearly missed a good position in the pursuit and also the points. At the following World Cups in Drammen and Changchun , she again secured significant World Cup points.
Promotion to the senior national team
In the 2006/07 season she started as a member of the senior national team in the World Cup. In Kuusamo , she narrowly missed the podium in the sprint as fourth. In December, Uhrenhold Jacobsen started again in the Scandinavian Cup and won the sprint race in Vuokatti . The Norwegian Championships 2007 in Meråker the Norwegian secured her first national title in the sprint. At the World Cup in Otepää she was second on the podium after finishing 17th over 10 km in the sprint. In Davos she reached the same position with the Norwegian relay.
First world title in 2007
After two Scandinavian Cup victories in Jõulumäe , she traveled with the Norwegian team to the Nordic World Ski Championships 2007 in Sapporo . There he won her first world title in the sprint. In the team sprint she finished third with partner Marit Bjørgen and won bronze. She also won bronze with Bjørgen, Vibeke Skofterud and Kristin Størmer Steira in the 4x5 km relay.
Uhrenholdt Jacobsen also won the sprint race by far at the following Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 2007 in Tarvisio . She won bronze over 5 km before missing another 10 km medal and finishing fourth. After further good placements at the World Cup finals in Stockholm and Falun, she finished the season in 24th place in the overall World Cup standings. In the Sprint World Cup, she finished tenth. At the Scandinavian Cup she won the overall ranking.
After Uhrenholdt Jacobsen won the FIS race in Beitostølen , she achieved the first World Cup victory in her career on November 25, 2007 with the relay at the same place. She finished second at the two World Cups in Kuusamo . Uhrenholdt Jacobsen celebrated her first individual World Cup victory on December 15, 2007 in Rybinsk, Russia . At the Tour de Ski 2007/08 she finished 16th overall after mixed stage results. At the Norwegian Championships in Granåsen in 2008 , Uhrenhold Jacobsen secured her second national sprint title.
Uhrenholdt Jacobsen again celebrated individual victories in Liberec and Falun. She was also the first to cross the finish line with the relay in Falun. After she finished on the podium in Bormio and Drammen at the end of the season, she finished second in the overall World Cup standings.
Performance slump in the 2008/09 season
After the success in the 2007/08 season, Uhrenholdt Jacobsen started weakly in the 2008/09 season . After crossing the finish line outside of the points in Davos, she started in the Scandinavian Cup, but did not win there either. She only achieved a second place in Brandbu . Also in the following Tour de Ski 2008/09 , she remained without front placements. Only in the prologue did Uhrenholdt Jacobsen once manage to finish in the top ten. Even at the following Nordic World Ski Championships in 2009 in Liberec, Czech Republic, she was without a single medal after her successes two years earlier. For the season she was not given a starting place due to lack of success. She finished the season in March as 90th overall.
Return to the top of the world
With the 2009/10 season , Uhrenholdt Jacobsen slowly got back on the road to success. In January 2010, she achieved a top ranking for the first time in Otepää when she was tenth. So she reached the qualification for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver . There she started in the sprint and finished in seventh place after 11th place in the qualification round. In the team sprint, she finished fifth with Celine Brun-Lie . A few weeks after the games, she finished the season 49th overall.
For the 2010/11 season , Uhrenholdt Jacobsen finally made it back into the top 10 in the world. The Norwegian finished the 2010/11 Tour de Ski in tenth place overall. From the end of January to mid-February 2011, she only competed in FIS races, but again celebrated two victories over 5 and 10 km in Beitostølen. After ranks 10 and 13 at the following World Cups in Drammen, she received a starting place at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2011 in Oslo . There she secured the bronze medal in the team sprint. In the sprint, she finished ninth. At the end of the season in Falun she finished fifth again after good stage results and finally finished the season eighth in the overall World Cup. At the Norwegian Championships 2011 in Kvaløysletta she managed to win a medal again. So she secured the bronze medal in the 30 km mass start.
With the Tour de Ski 2011/12 , Uhrenholdt Jacobsen clearly demonstrated its qualities again. After two third places on the stages, she finished eighth in the overall standings. She was also successful at the Norwegian Championships in Voss in 2012 and secured the title over 10 km. In February 2012 Uhrenholdt Jacobsen secured the World Cup victory in Nové Město na Moravě with the relay . In March she finished second in the Drammen sprint. After she finally finished the season in ninth place in the overall World Cup ranking, she was able to achieve this place in the 2012/13 season .
Second Olympic Games 2014
After finishing fifth in the Tour de Ski 2012/13 and missing medals at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2013 in Val di Fiemme , Uhrenholdt Jacobsen was again able to improve significantly for the 2013/14 season . She finished the season opener in Kuusamo in a good sixth place. At the Tour de Ski 2013/14 she secured a podium place in the overall standings for the first time. With four second places and the stage win in the pursuit in Toblach , she was in second place behind her compatriot Therese Johaug . In April 2013 she won the 32 km freestyle at the Haukelirennet .
At the Norwegian Championships in Molde in 2014 , she won a medal in skiathlon for the first time and came second.
At the 2014 Winter Olympics , Uhrenholdt Jacobsen finished fourth in the sprint and narrowly missed her first Olympic medal. Over 10 km she finished 19th. With the season she finished fifth. After she achieved only mixed World Cup results after the games, she finished the season in third place in the overall World Cup standings. In the 2014/15 season she won over 10 km freestyle in Rybinsk and finished third in Oslo in the 30 km mass start race. At the 2015 Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun , she won silver in the skiathlon and gold in the relay. She finished the season in 15th place in the overall World Cup and tenth place in the Distance World Cup. In April 2015 she won the 32 km freestyle at the Haukelirennet ski marathon . After finishing seventh at the Nordic Opening in Ruka at the beginning of the 2015/16 season, she came fourth three times in a row. She ended the 2016 Tour de Ski prematurely. In January 2016, she first took second place in Planica in the sprint and together with Heidi Weng . A week later she came second in Nové Město over 10 km freestyle and won the relay the next day. At the end of January 2016 she became Norwegian champion over 10 km classic and skiathlon. The following month she finished in the top ten four times in the World Cup, including third place in the 10 km mass start race in Falun. At the Ski Tour Canada she came in sixth. She was third in the skiathlon and second in the sprint in Canmore . She finished the season in eighth place in the Distance World Cup, seventh place in the overall World Cup and fifth place in the Sprint World Cup. In April 2016 she won the Haukelirennet, as in the previous year. At the beginning of the following season she finished 18th in the World Cup mini tour in Lillehammer . In the further course of the season she achieved third place in Toblach together with Maiken Caspersen Falla in the team sprint and won in Ulricehamn with the relay. At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2017 in Lahti , she won the bronze medal in the 30 km mass start race and the 10 km classic and the gold medal with the relay. She was also eighth in the skiathlon. She finished the season in 25th place in the overall World Cup. In the 2017/18 season she achieved eight top ten finishes in the World Cup, including fifth place at the World Cup finals in Falun, 15th place in the overall World Cup and 11th place in the Distance World Cup. At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , she won the gold medal with the relay.
In the 2018/19 season Jacobsen finished in the top ten 12 times in the World Cup singles, including second place over 10 km freestyle in Ulricehamn and in the sprint in Drammen . In addition, she won the relay in Ulricehamn and took seventh place at the World Cup finals in Québec . At the season highlight, the Nordic World Ski Championships 2019 in Seefeld in Tyrol , she won the silver medal with the relay. In the individual races there, she finished 12th in the 30 km mass start race, tenth place over 10 km classic and fourth place in the skiathlon . She finished the season in 16th place in the Sprint World Cup, in 13th place in the overall World Cup and in tenth place in the Distance World Cup. At the end of March 2019 she achieved third place at the Norwegian championships in Lygna over 5 km freestyle and, together with Martine Engebretsen, second place in the team sprint. After finishing third in the Ruka Triple at the beginning of the 2019/20 season, she won the relay in Lillehammer . She finished the Tour de Ski 2019/20 in fifth place. She won her sixth World Cup victory in the 10 km mass start race in Val di Fiemme and came second in the sprint. In February 2020, she took third place in the sprint in Åre and second place in the pursuit in Trondheim on the ski tour , making it fifth. She finished the season in eighth place in the Sprint World Cup, in sixth place in the Distance World Cup and in fourth place in the overall World Cup.
End of career
On April 22, 2020, she announced that she would like to end her career as a cross-country skier and work as a doctor. During her last World Cup race in March 2020, she indicated that she might not continue her career.

On February 7, 2014, the day of the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics in Sochi, her brother, the cross-country skier and training partner at IL Heming , Sten Anders Jacobsen , died unexpectedly .
