Enver Cenk Şahin (born September 22, 1994 in Zonguldak ) is a Turkish football player . He has been under contract with the first division club Kayserispor since January 2020 .

Career

Cenk Şahin started playing football in the youth of Zonguldak Belediyespor and moved from here to the youth of Zonguldakspor . In 2010 he was signed as a professional player by Istanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor . In his first season at Istanbul BB he played exclusively for the reserve team. With the 2011/12 season he also took part in professional training and played two league games.

For the 2016/17 season he was loaned to FC St. Pauli by his club, which renamed itself Istanbul Başakşehir in the summer of 2014 . For the 2017/18 season , FC St. Pauli acquired the transfer rights to Şahin and provided him with a contract until June 30, 2021.

For the second half of the second division season 2018/19 , the Hamburg team awarded the midfielder to the relegation-threatened league competitor FC Ingolstadt 04 . He was used in 16 league games by the end of the season and was relegated to the third division with the club against SV Wehen Wiesbaden .

For the 2019/20 season , Şahin returned to FC St. Pauli, but was only substituted on by head coach Jos Luhukay in the first round of the DFB Cup . In October 2019, he expressed his support for the controversial Turkish military offensive in northern Syria . He wrote on Instagram : “We are at the side of our heroic military and armies. Our prayers are with you! ”The FC St. Pauli ultras then published an open letter in which they sharply criticized Şahin's statements and demanded an immediate separation from the player. In a statement on its website, the association also distanced itself from Şahin's statements and described them as "incompatible with the values ​​of the association". On October 14, 2019, FC St. Pauli announced the exemption of the player. Şahin received a training and guest play permit in order to be able to recommend himself to other clubs. A day later, he got into the training of his former club Istanbul Başakşehir one, who as ACP - and Erdoğan -NaH applies . At the end of November 2019, the club and players agreed to terminate the contract.

He has been under contract with the Turkish first division club Kayserispor since January 2020 .
