The Wartenfels Office was an administrative area of the Bamberg bishopric , a direct imperial territory in the Holy Roman Empire . The Bamberg Monastery, which was assigned to the Franconian Empire , was a clerical principality that existed until the beginning of the 19th century.

geography

The office, located in the northeast of the Bamberg dominion, was one of the smaller high estates offices. Its neighboring offices in Bamberg were the Wallenfels office in the northwest and the Stadtsteinach office in the southeast and east. To the west was the Seibelsdorf Vogteiamt , which formed an exclave of the Brandenburg-Bayreuth Oberland .

history

The Office Wartenfels was three home fallen to the Bishopric of Bamberg or repurchased manors been formed. These former aristocratic lords were the manors Wartenfels , Losau and Rugendorf . From a denominational point of view, the Rugendorf manor played a special role, because it remained evangelical even after it was bought back by the bishopric in 1629. The re-Catholicization, which was carried out by force following the repurchase, remained only an episode, because it had to be reversed after the Peace of Westphalia and the Nuremberg Religious Comparison concluded in 1650 and the "normal denominational status" from 1624 restored.

structure

The administration was at the end of the high pin from a bailiff office , a tax office , a box office and a penny Office . The core area of the office around Wartenfels was self-contained in terms of high jurisdiction , the bailiwick and the cameralistic administration . Only the accounting had been kept separately for the three former manors Wartenfels, Losau and Rugendorf. On the other hand, the exclave of Wurbach , located within the Seibelsdorf bailiwick office , played a special role , in whose village markings the village and community rulership was exercised together with the Stadtsteinach office, although this was denied by the Seibelsdorfer Vogtamt.

Official seat

The seat of the official administration was in the in Wartenfels situated Castle Wartenfels .

Official staff

At the head of the official administration was a Vogt , also known as penny judges , Kastner , control , Umgeld- , Akzis- and tax collectors and forester acted. The Vogt was supported in his official business by a court actuary who also worked as a craft clerk and box knife . In addition, a teacher and a servant belonged to the administrative staff.

Bailiwick Office

The Vogteiamt Wartenfels was one of the 54  Vogteiamts of the Bamberg Monastery . The Bailiwick of the Wartenfels Office comprised the following village markings and localities:

Altenreuth , Braunersreuth , eckenreuth , Eisenwind , Kübelhof , Losau , Oberehesberg , Reichenbach , Rugendorf (joint exercise of high jurisdiction with the Stadtsteinach center , west of the Kaulbach is disputed with the Seibelsdorf bailiwick ), Schafhaus , Schafhof , Seubetenreuth , Unterehesberg , Wartenfels.

Centamt

The Wartenfels Centers Office was one of the 29 Centers offices of the Bamberg Monastery. Its high court district was congruent with the core area of the Wartenfelser Vogteibezirks. Only the exclave of Wurbach played a special role here, because in its village markings the exercise of high jurisdiction with the Seibelsdorf office was in dispute.

Tax office

The Wartenfels tax office was one of the 46 tax offices of the Bamberg monastery. The spatial sphere of activity of the tax office was congruent with that of the Wartenfelser Vogteiamt.

The economic importance of the office for the bishopric of Bamberg was relatively minor. It belonged to the offices with the lowest economic yield and was therefore led to the end of the 17th century as Amt I class (out of 5). The tax revenue of the tax office averaged 629 during the term of office of Peter Philipp von Dernbach (1672-1683) and 425 Franconian guilders per year during the term of office of Marquard Sebastian Schenk von Stauffenberg (1683-1693) , with an annual average of all offices from 1943 guilders .

Caste office

The Wartenfels caste office was one of the 24 caste offices of the Bamberg monastery.

Mining Authority

The mining law in the Wartenfels office was of economic importance. Initially the caste office was responsible for this. A separate mining office was set up in the second half of the 18th century . From 1796 it was subordinate to the Upper Mining College.
