history
Early history and antiquity
Stone tools and pottery shards found have shown that the area on the hill served as a hunting ground in prehistoric times.
The Roman settlement was not of great concern. The excavations so far have only uncovered a grave stele on the Campbeaux plateau and a grave site on the road to Jonquerettes , dating from the end of the third century.
Modern times
In 1720 the community was affected by the Great Plague , whereupon the inhabitants built a chapel for Saint Roch on the place de la Pastière .
On May 21, 1854, Alphonse Tavan , Frédéric Mistral , Joseph Roumanille , Théodore Aubanel , Anselme Mathieu , Paul Giéra and Jean Brunet founded the Félibrige , an association for Provencal poets, in the castle of Font-Ségugne .
