The Arrondissement Avignon is an administrative unit in the French department of Vaucluse within the region Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur . Administrative seat ( prefecture ) is Avignon .
There are 17 municipalities in the arrondissement, which have been divided into eight constituencies ( cantons ) since a reorganization in 2015 .

Reorganization of the arrondissements in 2017
As a result of the reorganization of the arrondissements in 2017, the arrondissement of Avignon became the area of the 21 municipalities of Bollène , Caderousse , Camaret-sur-Aigues , Châteauneuf-du-Pape , Grillon , Jonquières , Lagarde-Paréol , Lamotte-du-Rhône , Lapalud , Mondragon , Mornas , Orange , Piolenc , Richerenches , Sainte-Cécile-les-Vignes , Sérignan-du-Comtat , Travaillan , Uchaux , Valréas , Violès and Visan in the Carpentras arrondissement as well as the area of the 2 communes Cabrières-d'Avignon and Lagnes dem Assigned to the Arrondissement Apt .
Instead, the area of the two municipalities Entraigues-sur-la-Sorgue and Velleron changed from the Arrondissement Carpentras and the area of the municipality Caumont-sur-Durance from the Arrondissement Apt to the Arrondissement Avignon.
