Charles Oscar Andrews (born March 7, 1877 in Ponce de Leon , Florida , †  September 18, 1946 in Washington DC ) was an American politician ( Democratic Party ) who represented the state of Florida in the US Senate .

After attending public schools, Charles Andrews continued his education at the South Florida Military Institute in Bartow . He graduated from the Gainesville State Normal School in 1901 and from the University of Florida in 1907 . During the Spanish-American War he served in the Florida National Guard , in which he later rose to captain .

From 1905 to 1907 and again from 1909 to 1911 Andrews was employed as a secretary to the Florida Senate . He also studied law , was inducted into the bar in 1907 and began practicing in DeFuniak Springs . Between 1910 and 1911 he was a judge in the Walton County Criminal Court before serving as the Assistant Attorney General of the Florida government from 1912 to 1919 . From 1919 to 1925 he then served as judge for the 17th district court; thereafter he served from 1925 to 1928 as General Counsel of the Florida Real Estate Commission .

Andrews took his first political mandate in 1927 as a member of the Florida House of Representatives . After further legal duties, he was finally elected to the US Senate for the Democrats on November 3, 1936, where he succeeded the late Park Trammell . He was confirmed in office in 1940 and then died shortly before the end of the legislature on September 18, 1946 in Washington. During his time in the Senate, he chaired the Committee on Enrolled Bills , among other things .
