Christian Beeck (born December 18, 1971 in Rathenow , Potsdam district , GDR ) is a former German soccer player and former sports director in professional soccer .

Player career

Beeck started playing football at 1. FC Union Berlin at the age of eight . There he developed into a talented young player and aroused the interest of both local rivals BFC Dynamo and DFV . Therefore, he moved to the youth team of the BFC in 1987 and took part in the following year with the U-16 national team at the European Championship in Spain , where the team came in third. Then he moved up to the squad of the U-18 national team. Beeck played a total of nine games (with a goal) for the U-16 and twelve games (without a goal) for the U-18 selection.

After the fall of the Berlin Wall , Beeck left Dynamo and joined BSV Stahl Brandenburg in 1990 . There he made his debut in the GDR league in the 1989/90 season . After three more league appearances, one of them in the last season of the highest East German division, he left Brandenburg initially to FC Eindhoven , but came back to the Havel via the detour at FC Stahl Hennigsdorf , where BSV Stahl now qualifies for the second Bundesliga was successful. There, however, the club could not hold and rose again at the end of the 1991/92 season .

Beeck then moved to PFV Bergmann-Borsig Berlin in the Oberliga Nordost , stayed there for one season and finally returned to 1. FC Union in 1993. With the "Eiserne" he played in a sporty successful team, but the club's financial problems prevented promotion to the second Bundesliga, so Beeck, like Dirk Rehbein and Goran Markov Union's ex-trainer Frank Pagelsdorf, joined the Bundesliga promoted FC Hansa Rostock followed.

The Rostockers advanced to a surprise team in the 1995/96 season and finished sixth at the end of the season, with just one place missing from qualifying for the UEFA Cup . The following season, however, was determined by the relegation battle, and Hansa was finally able to hold the class. However, Beeck never got beyond the status of supplementary player and left Rostock in 1997 for Fortuna Düsseldorf in the second division. After he did not achieve the hoped-for promotion with Fortuna and instead even relegated to the regional league after the 1998/99 season, he decided to move again and came to FC Energie Cottbus .

Beeck experienced his most successful years in Cottbus. In 2000, the Lausitzer rose to the Bundesliga and stayed there for three years. Beeck was a great support and at times also team captain , but was repeatedly thrown back by injuries. After a protracted knee injury, he had to end his career in 2005.

Functionary career

Initially, Beeck sought a change to the Cottbus management, but this failed because of the then new management of the club. Therefore, he took over as team manager on 27 September 2005 the post of sporting director of Lothar Hamann with his old club Union Berlin. On March 1, 2007, he succeeded Jörg Heinrich as sports director and chief scout at the “Eiserne” and held this position for five years. During this period, the club was able to celebrate great success with qualifying for the 3rd division and advancing to the 2nd Bundesliga. At the end of the 2010/11 season, Union separated from Beeck prematurely in order to initiate the reorientation of the club with personnel changes at the top of the club. At that time, his contract was still valid for one year.

In May 2012, Beeck signed a contract with the second division Energie Cottbus , which was terminated in June 2013 due to "personal reasons" on both sides. Beeck then announced that he did not want to return to the football business.
