Christian Bernhard von Watzdorf

Christian Bernhard von Watzdorf (* December 12, 1804 at Berga Castle ; † September 15, 1870 in Weimar ) was a German judge and ministerial official in the Kingdom of Saxony . From 1867 he sat in the Reichstag (North German Confederation) .

Life

Watzdorf was a Protestant denomination and attended the Friedrichgymnasium (Altenburg) . From 1824 to 1828 he studied law at the University of Leipzig . In 1823 he became a member of the Corps Saxonia Leipzig . After graduating as Dr. jur. In 1828 he became an auditor and in 1830 a senior judge at the upper court in Leipzig . In 1835 he was appointed to the Zwickau Court of Appeal. He was co-editor of the year books for Saxon law . In August 1840 he was appointed to the Dresden Higher Appeal Court , but a few months later he joined the entire Ministry of the Kingdom of Saxony as Ministerialrat. In 1843 von Watzdorf resigned as a real. Go Council and Minister of State join the government of the Grand Duchy of Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach . He took over the departments for foreign affairs and justice. In 1848 he became head of the entire ministry and remained there until his death.

In 1850 he belonged to the Erfurt Union Parliament and was its vice-president. From February 1867 he was a non-attached member of the Reichstag of the North German Confederation for the constituency of Sachsen-Weimar-Eisenach 3 ( Jena , Neustadt an der Orla ). Shortly before the founding of the German Empire , he died in office at the age of 66.

The city of Weimar made him an honorary citizen .
