Christian Friedrich Göthel
Christian Friedrich Göthel (born August 6, 1804 in Borstendorf ; † November 13, 1873 there ) was a German organ builder .
life and work
Göthel comes from a family of instrument makers. His father Friedrich Göthel (1759-1850) provided a. a. Violins and other small musical instruments up to barrel organs. His son ran an organ building workshop in his home village of Borstendorf. He did not learn organ building professionally, but acquired his knowledge through detailed studies of Gottfried Silbermann's organs . From 1830 to 1873 he can be shown to have been an independent organ builder. He delivered his first organ to the church in Großwaltersdorf in 1839 for a purchase price of 1400 thalers . His brother Gottlob Friedrich Göthel (1806–2 November 1840) was involved in this new organ, but he died during the work.
In the local cemetery in Borstendorf, the preserved tomb with the inscription “ Man dies. His work is alive. “To Christian Friedrich Göthel. Furthermore, a path near his former workshop was named after him.

Of the 26 organs built by Göthel, 14 have been preserved in the area of the regional church of Saxony . The focus of his work was in the central and eastern Ore Mountains.
