Christian Friedrich von Mayer (born December 10, 1774 in Pillalen, † September 27, 1846 in Neuhaldensleben ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

Mayer belonged to the Prussian noble family of the same name . His parents were of the peerage on 4 May 1779 raised major in the Hussars. 9 Christian Friedrich von Mayer (1740-1788) and his wife Marie, born Schimmelpfennig from Oye .

career

For his school education he came to the provincial school in Rastenburg in 1785 . On April 1, 1787, he joined the infantry regiment "von Wildau" of the Prussian Army as a private corporal and was promoted to secondary lieutenant by the end of May 1795 . In 1794/95 he took part in the battle at Magniszewo during the suppression of the Kościuszko uprising . On June 15, 1799 he became a prime lieutenant . He fought in the Fourth Coalition War and after the Peace of Tilsit received his departure as captain on April 9, 1807 .

On May 16, 1813, Mayer was employed as a staff captain in the gendarmerie . But on June 1, 1813, he became a battalion leader in the 4th East Prussian Landwehr Infantry Regiment, and on September 22, 1813, he was promoted to major. During the wars of liberation he acquired the Iron Cross II class and the Order of St. Vladimir IV class during the siege of Danzig .

On September 6, 1815 he became the commander of the 3rd West Prussian Landwehr Infantry Regiment, on March 30, 1818, he became a lieutenant colonel and in 1820 he was appointed commander of the 4th Landwehr Regiment. On June 18, 1825, Mayer was promoted to colonel with a patent from June 27, 1825 , initially with the leadership of the 33/34. Commissioned by the Infantry Regiment and appointed regimental commander on September 10, 1826. On March 30, 1829, he was released from this command . On January 22, 1832, he received the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class, before retiring on March 20, 1834 with the character of a major general and 1750 thalers pension. He died on September 27, 1846 on Neuhaldensleben .

He married Luise Gottliebe von Egloff (1782–1845), a legitimate daughter of the Prussian major Otto Friedrich Graf von Egloffstein on Arklitten, on September 28, 1805 in Bansen, Rössel district , who was buried in the garrison cemetery in Berlin after her death . The couple had several children.
