Christian Gottlieb Ludwig von Rabiel (born September 17, 1729 in Eisleben , † April 8, 1805 in Breslau ) was a Prussian major general and commandant of the Glatz Fortress .

Life

He was the son of Christian von Rabiel and his wife Susanne Sophie, née von Alvensleben . His father was chamberlain and senior councilor in Sachsen-Meiningen . His sister Johanna Ludolfine († 1795) was married to the colonel and knight of the order Pour le Mérite Achatz Wilhelm von Winterfeld (1721–1779).

Military career

Rabiel became a page with Duke Ferdinand of Braunschweig in 1742 . During the Second Silesian War he fought in the battles of Hohenfriedberg and Kesselsdorf as well as in the siege of Prague. On January 11, 1746, Rabiel was a corporal in the infantry regiment "von Bonin" . On May 30, 1752 he was promoted to ensign and was second lieutenant on November 29, 1755 . During the Seven Years' War he fought near Lobositz , Roßbach , Leuthen and Torgau . At that time he became Prime Lieutenant on November 10, 1760 and on May 2, 1763, Captain of the Staff .

On June 9, 1766, Ramien became captain and company commander and on June 24, 1777, major . As such, he took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession in 1778/79 . From July 13, 1781 he was commander of the grenadier battalion 5/20. On April 22, 1784, he was transferred to the "von Lehwaldt" infantry regiment as a battalion commander. On March 13, 1786 he became lieutenant colonel there and on June 13, 1788 colonel. Rabiel became seriously ill with Podagra and was therefore given a supply post. On April 3, 1791, he was transferred to Breslau as commandant , for which he received 1,466 thalers pay and was promoted to major general on April 23, 1791. With the beginning of the First Coalition War , on September 1, 1791, in the absence of the governor of Prince Hohenlohe, he received the order to take over his business. On November 6, 1793, he was transferred to the Glatz fortress as commandant. There Rabiel were transferred to the government duties ad interim on March 18, 1792 until the governor returned from the field. On January 11, 1796, he celebrated his 50th anniversary with the company. Only on November 5, 1804 did he receive his resignation and a pension of 1086 thalers.

He died in Breslau on April 8, 1805.

Rabiel married Henriette Christiane Wilhelmine von Alvensleben (1737–1783) in Eichenbarleben on October 14, 1766. The couple had several children:
