Christian Ludwig von Kalsow

Christian Ludwig von Kalsow (* 1694 ; † October 1, 1766 at Gut Zollen near Soldin ) was a Prussian lieutenant general , chief of infantry regiment No. 43 and governor of Massow , Naugard and VALZOW .

Life

His parents were Karl Ferdinand von Kalsow († 1697) and his wife Anne Louise von Dewitz from the Daber family. The father was the heir Blankenhagen, Suckow and Rützenow.

Life

His upbringing began at the Suchow estate. He was then sent to the knight school in Kolberg in 1714 and studied at the University of Halle until 1716 . There he was drafted into the Prussian Army under Leopold von Anhalt-Dessau because of his size . Kalsow was already on November 22, 1716 ensign in the regiment "Forcade" . On March 8, 1717 he was accepted into the king's body regiment . There he was soon promoted to captain . On October 8, 1738, he was eligible for the official team of Massow, Naugard and Validzow. In 1739 he was made official there. He was then for seven years for advertising (military) in Russia, which should have been very successful. In 1740, however, Kalsow was in Potsdam to keep vigil over the dying King Friedrich Wilhelm . After the king's death, Friedrich II promoted him to lieutenant colonel and then to colonel in the “von Hagen” fusilier regiment. In December 1744 he got his own fusilier regiment . On May 18, 1745, he was appointed major general (patent dated May 8, 1743). His horse was shot in the battle of Hohenfriedberg . His unit was then subject to the siege of Kosel Leopold von Anhalt-Dessau , with whom he then also advanced against Upper Silesia. On May 12, 1750 he was appointed lieutenant general. In 1757 he wanted to take part in the Seven Years' War , but suffered a stroke and was retired. As a retirement home, he got the Zollen estate near Soldin in Neumark. In 1759 it was occupied by Russian troops. In 1766 he was additionally granted a grace salary of 600 thalers . But he died that same year.

family

Kalsow was married to Marie Louise Dorothea von Herold († July 1, 1743) since September 7, 1736. She was the daughter of the secret finance councilor Christian von Herold (1669–1744) and his wife Eva Catharina von Klinggräff . Her sister Charlotte Dorothea Eva von Herold was married to General Johann Ludwig von Ingersleben (1703–1757).

His second wife was von Wedell († May 30, 1780). She received the salary from grace until her death. No children are known from either marriage.
