Christian Quadflieg (born April 11, 1945 in Växjö , Sweden ) is a German actor , director and reciter . He became known to a wide audience through the series Der Landarzt , in which Quadflieg played the leading role for years.

life and career

Christian Quadflieg's parents were the actors Will Quadflieg (1914–2003) and Benita von Vegesack (1917–2011). His sister Roswitha Quadflieg is a writer and book artist.

Quadflieg spent his school days in Hamburg. He then completed a three-year training course at the Westphalian Drama School in Bochum (today Drama School Bochum ). Between 1969 and 1973 he was engaged on the stages in Oberhausen , Wuppertal and Basel. This was followed by appearances at theaters in Berlin (Volksbühne), Hamburg ( Thalia-Theater , State Opera ), Munich ( State Opera ), Vienna ( Theater in der Josefstadt ) and Zurich ( Schauspielhaus ), as well as at the Salzburg Festival .

Quadflieg appeared on television in numerous films and series (for example Der Alte , Derrick , Das Traumschiff , Siska ). In 1975 he played the main male role in the science fiction television series The Girls from Space (English title "Starmaidens") produced in London and in English .

From 1986 he played the title role in 41 episodes in the series Der Landarzt . In 16 episodes he was also the director. Quadflieg's wife Renate Reger played Ina Eckholm in the second to fourth season of the series . In the ARD series Father Against Will Quadflieg played the main male role, the conductor Max Oldendorf .

In recent years he has mainly been touring the entire German-speaking region with poetry readings, including in the Vienna Burgtheater , in the Zürcher Schauspielhaus and the Komödie in Berlin as well as at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival . He explains his low presence on TV screens by saying that he has become more picky about his film roles.

In 2008 Quadflieg founded his own CD label "cqorpheus". Of the numerous CD recordings, the title: Fathers and Sons - Letter Exchange Thomas Mann and Klaus Mann won the German Record Critics' Prize . Christian Quadflieg is a member of the Free Academy of the Arts Hamburg .

As a voice actor, he lent his voice to Dean Stockwell ( Paris, Texas ) and Jon Finch ( Dr. Faustus ), among others .

He has lived in Hamburg again since 1991 .
