Christiane Langenberger (born April 21, 1941 in Bern ; † August 16, 2015 in Romanel-sur-Morges ; entitled to live there ) was a Swiss politician . From 2003 to 2004 she was the first woman to preside over the Liberal Democratic Party of Switzerland (FDP).

biography

Langenberger held her first political office as a councilor in Romanel-sur-Morges in 1987 and was mayor from 1994 to 1995. On June 19, 1995, she moved into the National Council and worked there until December 5, 1999. She was elected to the Council of States on December 6, 1999 and then represented the Canton of Vaud in the Small Chamber for two terms. In the 2007 elections it was no longer available. In the 1998 Federal Council election, she was nominated as the official candidate to succeed the resigned Jean-Pascal Delamuraz . The United Federal Assembly elected Pascal Couchepin into office. In January 2003 she took over the presidium of the FDP from Gerold Bührer and held this office until April 2004.

Langenberger was married and had two children. She lived in Romanel-sur-Morges, where she died on August 16, 2015 at the age of 74 after a long illness.
