Félix Bonjour

Félix Bonjour (born June 25, 1858 in Vevey , † May 8, 1942 in Lausanne ) was a Swiss politician ( FDP ).

biography

Félix Bonjour studied classical and modern philology as well as history at the Lausanne Academy and at the Universities of Bern , Strasbourg and Bonn . From 1878 to 1928 he was editor-in-chief and head of the Revue , an organ of the Vaudois radicals. From 1896 to 1898 he was also President of the Swiss Press Association and several times President of the Cantonal Association. From 1915 to 1926 he sat on the bank council of Crédit foncier vaudois and on the board of directors of Revue .

In 1901 Bonjour was elected to the Grand Council of the Canton of Vaud . Seven years later, in the parliamentary elections in 1908 , he became a member of the National Council . In 1911 he joined the board of the FDP Switzerland and in 1912 was appointed the new central president of the FDP Switzerland. He held this office until 1914. As President of the National Council in 1915, he also presided over the United Federal Assembly . In 1917 he resigned from his political offices, two years later he also left the board of directors of the FDP. After 1919 he devoted himself exclusively to his work at the Revue and continued to work as a journalist. His work Souvenirs d'un journaliste from 1931 is a valuable historical source.
