Ernest Béguin
Ernest Béguin (born February 6, 1879 in Neuchâtel ; † April 18, 1966 there , entitled to live in Rochefort ) was a Swiss politician ( FDP ).
biography
After studying law in Neuchâtel , Basel and Paris , Beguin was admitted to the bar in 1904 . Only a year later he opened a law firm and in the same year became President of the Civil Court of the Canton of Neuchâtel . From 1909 to 1918 he was a public prosecutor in the same canton. From 1920 he was a correspondent in Neuchâtel for the Neue Zürcher Zeitung .
In 1907 he was elected to the Grand Council of Neuchâtel and had a seat there until 1916. From 1909 to 1918 he was on the General Council of Neuchâtel. Then he was a State Councilor from 1918 to 1942 before the Justice and Police Department. He also initiated important reforms templates such as the Law on Unfair Competition (1922), on the restructuring of the court system (1925) and the cantonal police in 1927. Beguin sat 1912-1939 in the Senate and was in office 1935 Senate President . From 1934 to 1940 he was President of the FDP Switzerland .
After his retirement he headed the synod of the Evangelical Reformed Church in Neuchâtel.
