Fritz Honegger

Fritz Honegger (born July 25, 1917 in Hauptwil ; † March 4, 1999 in Zurich ) was a Swiss politician ( FDP ) from the canton of Zurich . As Federal Councilor he was Minister of Economic Affairs and once held the office of Federal President .

Life

On December 7, 1977, he was elected to the Federal Council in the first ballot to succeed Ernst Brugger . He resigned on December 31, 1982. During his tenure, he headed the Federal Department of Economic Affairs. He was a member of the Zofingia .

He was Federal President in 1982 and Vice President in 1981. After his resignation, he held various mandates in business, in addition to a number of honorary positions. The business mandates made it possible for him to forego the pension that an old Federal Councilor would be entitled to.

He came from Fischenthal . His son Eric Honegger also became a politician.

  • 1977: Election to the Federal Council with 173 votes (absolute majority: 105 votes)
  • 1979: Re-election as Federal Council with 198 votes (absolute majority: 110 votes)
  • 1980: Elected Vice President of the Federal Council with 203 votes (absolute majority: 106 votes)
  • 1981: Election to the Federal President with 210 votes (absolute majority: 109 votes)
