Christina Smith (born May 10, 1945 in New York City , New York ) is an American makeup artist .

Life

Smith began her career on the film staff in 1972 television with a Liza Minnelli special. She subsequently worked on three feature films with Minelli, including New York and New York . After a number of major Hollywood productions of the 1980s such as Over the Top and Black Rain, she began working with director Steven Spielberg in 1991 , for whom she worked on four feature films in the 1990s; Hook , Schindler's List , Jurassic Park, and Forgotten World: Jurassic Park . In 1992 , along with Monty Westmore and Greg Cannom , she received her first Academy Award nomination for Hook for Best Make-up and Best Hairstyle , but that year the award went to James Cameron's science fiction film Terminator 2 - Judgment Day . For Schindler's List , she was nominated again for an Oscar in 1994, along with Judith A. Cory and Matthew Mungle , but that year it won the comedy Mrs. Doubtfire - The Prickly Nanny . At the BAFTA Film Awards , which took place in the same year , she was also nominated for the best mask , where she was subject to the literary film adaptation of Orlando . Smith has worked with other renowned directors such as Martin Scorsese , Ridley Scott , Clint Eastwood , Stanley Donen and Jim Jarmusch throughout her career .

In addition to her film engagements, Smith has also worked for television, mostly in television films such as A Short Life with Liza Minnelli and A Woman Conquering Fear with Gena Rowlands in the role of Betty Ford . In 1978 she was nominated for a Primetime Emmy for her work on the mini-series King .
