Greg Cannom

Gregory Cannom (* 1951 ) is an American makeup artist . Cannom was responsible for the make-up in some of the most successful Hollywood films of all time and won four Academy Awards for his work with a total of ten nominations.

Life

Cannom acted in more than 100 films in his career. He initially specialized mainly in numerous horror and science fiction films. He later worked on a variety of comedies such as Mrs. Doubtfire , A Promise Is A Promise , Big Mama's House and The Mask With Jim Carey . Some TV series such as Will & Grace and TV films were also among his projects.

In the 1990s, Cannom et al. a. Responsible for the blockbusters Titanic by James Cameron and Steven Spielberg's Hook and for films like Batman's Return , Blade , Insider and Bram Stoker's Dracula by Francis Ford Coppola . During this time he was nominated six times for an Oscar, of which he won two of the awards in the category Best Make-up for the films Bram Stoker's Dracula and Mrs. Doubtfire . There were also numerous other nominations at the Emmys , the BAFTA Awards and the Saturn Awards .

In the 2000s, too, extremely successful films with lavish make-up such as Pirates of the Caribbean , A Beautiful Mind , Hannibal , Ali or Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ were among Cannom's works. In that decade he was nominated twice for an Oscar, and in 2009 he won his third Oscar for the film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button . Previously, in 2005 he and Wesley Wofford were honored with an Oscar certificate for technical merit for developing a novel silicone material for the manufacture of masks .

Other films in which Cannom participated were e.g. B. Cocoon , Star Trek VI as well as sequels of the successful film series Nightmare , Highlander , Kickboxer , The Exorcist or Alien .
