Christoph Heinrich von Grabow

Christoph Heinrich von Grabow (* 1700 in Prignitz ; † June 6, 1770 ) was a Prussian major general , chief of infantry regiment No. 47 and heir to Grabow near Blumenthal .

Life

Christoph Heinrich comes from the old noble family von Grabow from Prignitz . In 1711 he first came to the cadet institution and from there to regiment "Stille" No. 20 . There he was ensign on April 29, 1719 and shortly thereafter second lieutenant , on November 8, 1723 prime lieutenant and on December 6, 1734 staff captain . In 1735 he received a grenadier company with which he took part in the First Silesian War . He fought with it on April 10, 1741 in the Battle of Mollwitz . In the Second Silesian War he fought first near Dresden in 1744 and then at the siege of Prague and in June 1745 near Hohenfriedberg . Grabow was very brave and was therefore promoted to major with the patent of December 4, 1741 and transferred to the "Bredow" regiment No. 21 . He fought with it in December 1745 in the battle of Kesselsdorf . In June 1747 he received the Pour le Mérite .

In regiment no. 21 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel on June 2, 1749 and was appointed commander in the same year . On September 26, 1753 he was promoted to colonel and on May 11, 1757 was appointed major general. On January 1, 1758 he took over the infantry regiment "Rohr" No. 47.

During the Seven Years' War he fought in Lobositz and in the siege of Prague . In the battle of Roßbach , he commanded two battalions from Anhalt, one from Hülfen and one from Fink, in the second meeting on the left wing. In 1759 he was sent to Poland and fought at Kay and the Battle of Kunersdorf . In Kunersdorf he again led the grenadier battalions of the regiments “Lossow”, “Bayer” and “Tann” on the left wing in the second meeting. In 1760 he fought again in Silesia under Lieutenant General Karl Christoph von der Goltz and was initially used at Glogau and later at Schweidnitz . In 1761 he was first in the camp near Zeitzenberg and then marched against the Russians . In 1762 he joined the king's army and went to Saxony. After the Treaty of Hubertusburg , he was released on January 6, 1764 and received a pension of 1,500 thalers . He died on June 6, 1770.
