Christ Church (Hansühn)
The Christ Church in Hansühn , Wangels parish , is the parish church of the Hansühn parish, which belongs to the Ostholstein parish of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany .
history
After the late Romanesque predecessor building from the 13th century was demolished in 1893-1894, construction of the new church began in 1896 according to plans by the Hamburg architect Hugo Groothoff . Parts of the foundation and the building material ( field stone ) were probably reused. The inauguration took place on May 23, 1897.
The church patronage belonged to the family Abercron of Good Testorf . The Hansühner Church was named Christ Church in 1955. Today the parish shares the pastor with the Hohenstein Church, also in Wrangels.
description
The Christ Church is a neo-Gothic hall church with a short transept , a semicircular apse with adjoining sacristy on the east side and a west tower . In addition to the field stone, red brick was used .
The main portal is on the west side of the nave, a smaller entrance on the north side of the tower. Different roof shapes were used for the parts of the building: a rhombic roof on the tower, a saddle roof on the nave , hip roofs on the transverse arms and a tent roof on the apse.
Furnishing
A large part of the equipment was taken over from the previous building. The wooden altarpiece and the carved baptismal font from the end of the 17th century as well as the also carved pulpit from 1685 are baroque. The cross above the altar and the relief set in the upper field are Gothic and thus clearly in front of the altar. The sound cover of the pulpit shows the four evangelists with their symbols. The figures were created before 1685 and were subsequently added to the pulpit. A pelican adorns the decorated lid of the octagonal baptismal font.
A loft-like manor lodge dates from 1718. A goblet made of partly gilded silver and a silver wafer box were made in 1754. A gilded silver paten bears the renovation date 1841.
The oldest piece in the church is a wooden, Gothic seated Madonna from the beginning of the 13th century. Late Gothic from around 1520–1530 is a wooden crucifixion group from the environment of Claus Berg with figures of Mary , the apostle John , St. Catherine and another helper in need .
