Colobraro is a municipality in the province of Matera in the Italian region of Basilicata .

1131 inhabitants live in Colobraro (as of December 31, 2019). The place is 86 km west of Matera . The neighboring communities are Noepoli ( PZ ), Rotondella , Sant'Arcangelo ( PZ ), Senise ( PZ ), Tursi and Valsinni .

The exact year Colobraro was founded is not known. The place arose near the monastery of the Basilian monks of St. Mary of Ceronofio. The name of the place comes from Coluber , snake.
