The district of Tunanmarca (alternative spelling: District Tunán Marca ) is located in the province of Jauja in the region of Junín in south-west central Peru . The district was founded on September 15, 1944. It has an area of 32.7 km². At the 2017 census, there were 1,038 residents in the Tunanmarca district. In 1993 the population was 1782, in 2007 1404. The administrative seat is the 3470 m high village of Concho with 908 inhabitants (as of 2017). Concho is located 9 km northwest of the provincial capital Jauja .
In the west of the district is the archaeological site of Tunanmarca on a hill 3912 m above sea level.
Geographical location
The district of Tunanmarca is located in the Andean highlands in the middle of the province of Jauja. The Río Mantaro flows 5 km further south in an easterly direction.
The district of Tunanmarca borders in the extreme southwest on the district Janjaillo , in the west on the district Pomacancha , in the east on the district Acolla and in the south on the district Marco .
