Conradin Cramer

Conradin Cramer (born February 17, 1979 in Basel ; resident in Basel and Zurich ) is a Swiss politician (Liberal Democratic Party LDP ). He has been a government councilor in the canton of Basel-Stadt since February 8, 2017 .

Life

Cramer attended the Bäumlihof grammar school , which he graduated with the Matura . He studied law at the University of Basel and the Albert-Ludwigs-University in Freiburg im Breisgau and received his doctorate with the dissertation The Bonus in the Employment Contract , for which he was awarded the Prize of the Law Faculty of the University of Basel in 2007. In 2011 he obtained a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the University of California, Berkeley . Since 2013 he has been teaching private law at the University of Basel. In December 2017 he completed his habilitation and was awarded the venia docendi for private law and the title of private lecturer from the University of Basel .

From 2007 until he took office as a member of the government, he worked full-time as a lawyer and since 2009 also as a notary in the Vischer law firm in Basel.

Cramer is a former member of the Swiss Zofinger Association and manager of the EE Zunft zum Schlüssel . He is also a member of the Schildner zum Schneggen Society .

politics

From 2002 to 2007, Cramer was a member of the residents' council of the municipality of Riehen . From 2005 to 2017 he was a member of the Grand Council of the Canton of Basel-Stadt . From 1999 to 2005 he was President of the Young Liberals Basel. In the Grand Council, he was a member of the parliamentary leadership, the so-called office of the Grand Council , from 2009 to 2014 . On February 6, 2013, Cramer was elected President of the Grand Council for the 2013/2014 year of office with 90 out of 98 votes, making him the youngest Grand Council President in 100 years. From 2014 to February 2017 he chaired the building and spatial planning commission.

In October 2015, Conradin Cramer ran for the National Council . He reached second place on the list and was the first to move up for the elected Christoph Eymann . On March 8, 2016, the party assembly of the Liberal Democratic City of Basel nominated Cramer as its candidate for the government council elections in 2016. On October 23, 2016, he was elected to the government council in the first round. On February 8, 2017, Cramer took up his post as head of the education department of the canton of Basel-Stadt.

Since May 2018 Conradin Cramer has also been President of the Board of Trustees of the éducation21 foundation, which is dedicated to education for sustainable development (ESD).
