Dąbrowo ( German  Heinrichswalde ) is a village in the Polish Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship , which belongs to the rural community Grunwald (Grünefeld) in the powiat Ostródzki ( Osterode district ).

Geographical location

Dąbrowo is located 23 kilometers south of the district town of Ostróda ( Osterode (East Prussia) ), in the northwest of Jezioro Dąbrowa (Lake Semnitz) and can be reached via a spur road from Marcinkowo (Mertinsdorf) on Voivodship road 537 . There is no train connection.

history

The village was called Dombrowa until September 18, 1877 and essentially consisted of a large courtyard. As a district of the rural community Frögenau , the village called Heinrichswalde belonged to the district of Frögenau in the Osterode district in East Prussia in the Königsberg district (from 1905 Allenstein district ) in the Prussian province of East Prussia until 1945 .

In 1945 Heinrichswalde was in consequence of the war with the southern East Prussia Poland assigned and received the Polish name Dąbrowo . Today the small village is part of the rural community Grunwald (Grünefelde) in the powiat Ostródzki of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belonged to the Olsztyn (Allenstein) Voivodeship from 1975 to 1998 .

Religions

Evangelical

Until 1945 the population of Heinrichswaldes was predominantly of Protestant denomination. The village was in the region of Tannenberg parish mills - Tannenberg (Polish today: Mielno-Stębark) the parish that the church district Osterode ( Superintendenturbezirk Hohenstein ) within the ecclesiastical province of East Prussia the Protestant Church of the Old Prussian Union belonged. After the local population fled and were expelled, only a few Protestant church members still live in Dąbrowo. They now belong to the parish of Ostróda in the diocese of Masuria of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .

Catholic

Since 1945 there has been an almost exclusively Catholic population in Dąbrowo . The previously Protestant parish church in Tannenberg is now the central Catholic place of worship. The parish belongs to the deanery Grunwald in the Archdiocese of Warmia of the Catholic Church in Poland .
