Dale Adam Dye, Jr. (born October 8, 1944 in Cape Girardeau , Missouri ) is an American entrepreneur , actor and author .

Life

The US Navy - Veteran Dye served in the 1960s in the Vietnam War . He was wounded several times and received three Purple Hearts . He was still stationed in Beirut in the early 1980s before ending his active military career with the rank of captain in 1984.

To this day, Dale Dye works as a consultant for film and television productions on issues relating to the representation of military-related issues and dramaturgies. His first works as a technical consultant were the 1986 films Invasion from Mars and Platoon . Further, internationally known and accompanied by Dye feature film productions were among others Bestie Krieg , Born on July 4th , JFK - Tatort Dallas , Outbreak - Silent Killer and Saving Private Ryan . In addition to his advisory work, he often appeared as an actor, for example as Captain Harris in Platoon and in several episodes of the miniseries Band of Brothers - We were like brothers . Dye has since founded Warriors Inc. for consulting activities .

Dale Dye has published several novels and co-authored the screenplay for the feature film Airborne - Wings of Steel (Original: Fire Birds) .

From 2011 to 2013 he starred as Colonel Porter in Steven Spielberg's science fiction series Falling Skies .
