Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor (RoH) is a special honor given by the Dallas Cowboys to particularly deserving players. The Cowboys are an American football team in the National Football League (NFL). In many team sports it is customary to block the shirt numbers of deserving players after their career and not to award them in future as an expression of admiration. There is no such honor in Dallas. Highly deserving players are instead inducted into the Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor. Your number will not be blocked.

Entry requirement

Former players, coaches and club officials can be accepted . Only one person, the respective team owner of the cowboys or the chairman of the board, is entitled to vote. Since 1989 the team has been owned by Jerry Jones , who has also been awarding the honors since then.

ceremonial

The honor will be given on an NFL game day that the Cowboys dedicated to their former star player Bob Lilly . Lilly was also the first person to be accepted into the illustrious circle. Subsequently, in the Texas Stadium , the former venue of the Cowboys, the name was revealed on a tape that runs between the lower tier and upper tier around the stadium. In 2009, a ribbon was also attached to the new Cowboys stadium , the Cowboys Stadium . The honors do not take place every year.
