NFL

In 1992, Woodson was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the second round in 37th place in the NFL Draft . In 1989 the Cowboys were bought by Jerry Jones . After the dismissal of coach Tom Landry , he hired Jimmy Johnson as the new head coach . The goal of the two was to build the team of cowboys into a top team by hiring young players hungry for success. By giving running back Herschel Walker to the Minnesota Vikings , draft rights were acquired and invested in acquiring new players. Over the next few years, numerous key players were signed as rookies or by other clubs - wide receiver Alvin Harper , running back Emmitt Smith , fullback Daryl Johnston , quarterback Troy Aikman , tight end Jay Novacek and offensive tackle Erik Williams . In addition, wide receiver Michael Irvin, who has been playing with the Cowboy since 1988, managed to overcome a cruciate ligament rupture . Jim Jeffcoat , who has been playing with the Cowboys for a long time , the defensive tackle Chad Hennings and Darren Woodson, who was signed up in 1992, helped to make the defense a bulwark. The Cowboys became the dominant football team of the early 1990s. Woodson was converted by the cowboys to safety and developed into a key player in the team's defensive backfield .

Woodson was known as a fast defender who was often used against the running game of the opponent. He still holds the club record for the most tackles by a player today (2012) . He also got eleven sacks , 23 interceptions and two touchdowns .

Woodson won the Super Bowl three times with the Cowboys - after the 1992 season the Super Bowl XXVII against the Buffalo Bills with 52:17, after the season 1994 the Super Bowl XXVII again against the team from Buffalo with 30:13 and after the season 1995 the Super Bowl XXX against the Pittsburgh Steelers with 27:17.

In 2004 he had to end his career after an injury. He played in the NFL exclusively for the Dallas Cowboys and was elected to the Pro Bowl five times .
