Daniel Joseph Bohan (born November 8, 1941 in Yarmouth , Nova Scotia , † January 15, 2016 in Regina , Saskatchewan ) was a Canadian clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Regina .

Life

Daniel Bohan entered Halifax's Holy Heart Seminary in 1963 and was ordained a priest on May 13, 1967. Initially, he was a pastor in New Brunswick . From 1968 to 1969 he was Professor of Moral Theology at Holy Heart Seminary . In 1999 he was sent to the Gospel, Ecumenical and Theology Committee of the United Church of Canada .

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Toronto and titular bishop of Migirpa on May 14, 2003 . The Archbishop of Toronto, Aloysius Matthew Cardinal Ambrozic , donated him episcopal ordination on July 3 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were André Richard CSC , Archbishop of Moncton , and James Martin Hayes , Senior Archbishop of Halifax . Shortly afterwards he became a member of the Social Committee in the Canadian Bishops' Conference. In addition, he was chairman of the episcopal commission for Christian unity.

On March 30, 2005 he was appointed Archbishop of Regina by John Paul II . In 2012, Bohan was appointed by Pope Benedict XVI. appointed member of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue . In 2014 he was sent to the Canadian Council of Churches as a delegate of the Canadian Bishops' Conference. Archbishop Bohan died of lung cancer in January 2016.
