Daniel "Danny" Meyers (born March 2, 1983 in Ascot , England ) is a former British ice hockey player who won the playoffs of the Elite Ice Hockey League three times with the Nottingham Panthers .

Career

Daniel Meyers began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth department of the Basingstoke Bison , for which he made his debut in the British National League in the 1998/99 season . After losing the playoff finals with his team in 2000 and 2001, he left Basingstoke and moved to league rivals Milton Keynes Kings . There he stayed, however - as with the Solihull Blaze in the following year - only one season. From 2003 to 2006 he played for the Bracknell Bees , with whom he was able to win the last championship of the British National League in 2005 before its dissolution. As the best defender in the league and a member of the All-Star Team, he himself contributed significantly to this success. After the dissolution of the BNL, he played the 2005/06 season with the Bees in the English Premier Ice Hockey League , which had succeeded them as the second highest British league. During this season he won the English Cup with the Bees. He then moved to the Elite Ice Hockey League , the highest British league, to the Nottingham Panthers . In 2007, 2011 and 2012 he won the EIHL play-offs with the Panthers and the EIHL Challenge Cup in 2008, 2010, 2011 and 2012. After six successful years in Nottingham, where he was team captain from 2007, he moved to the Sheffield Steelers in 2012 and two years later to the EPIHL club Guildford Flames , for which he was on the ice for three years. With the team from the south east of England , he won both the playoffs and the cup competition of the English Premier Ice Hockey League in 2016. In 2017 he ended his career.

International

For Great Britain Meyers participated in the junior division in the U18-B-World Championship 1999 , the U18-World Championship of the European Division I 2000 and the U18-World Championship of the Division II 2001 as well as the U20-C-World Championship 2000 and the U20 World Championship of the Division II 2001 , 2002 and 2003 .

In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad at the World Championships in Division I in 2004 , 2006 , 2007 , 2008 , 2009 , 2010 , 2011 , 2012 , 2013 and 2014 . Meyers also took part in the Olympic qualifications for the Games in Vancouver in 2010 and in Sochi in 2014 for Great Britain .
