David Lundbohm (born December 17, 1979 in Roseau , Minnesota ) is an American ice hockey player ( center ). In the current season 2008/09 he plays for Växjö Lakers HC in the second highest Swedish ice hockey league , HockeyAllsvenskan .

Career

David Lundbohm began his ice hockey career at the age of 19 with the Fargo-Moorhead Ice Sharks in the United States Hockey League . He was able to improve his points yield in the two years, but not his penalties . This improved, however, when he studied for four years at the University of North Dakota between 2000 and 2004 and during that time played on their ice hockey team in the National Collegiate Athletic Association .

After graduating , Lundbohm began his first professional season with the Florida Everblades in the ECHL . Through good performance he achieved seventh place in the internal team classification and thus got a contract with the Providence Bruins , farm team of the NHL team Boston Bruins , in the AHL . In Providence he was center front row during the season and finished sixth on the team at the end of the season.

Before the 2006/07 season , the Kölner Haie Lundbohm invited him to a training session and offered him a trial contract. However, he did not receive a contract, as he proved to be suitable for the DEL (Lundbohm scored the most goals of all Cologne in preparation), but was not the expected leader. Shortly before the start of the season, he was finally signed by the newly promoted Straubing Tigers . There he started the season alongside Per Eklund and Cam Severson in the front row, but had to move to one of the back rows after the commitment of Nathan Barrett . After the end of Eklund's career and the termination of his contract with Barrett, he moved back to the front row together with the newly hired Éric Chouinard .

After he did not get a new contract in Straubing , he moved to SC Langenthal in the National League B at the beginning of the 2007/08 season . Despite three goals and five assists in six games, he was ousted by the American Derek Plante and was considered a surplus foreigner, whereupon he separated from the Swiss . For the rest of the season he went to the Finnish club TPS Turku in the SM-liiga .
