David Jerard Moss (born September 9, 1983 in Chicago , Illinois ) is an American basketball player . After studying in his home country, Moss became a professional player in Europe and, after a station in Poland, has been playing in Italy since 2007 , where he and his respective teams have won the Italian championship four times and the “Coppa Italia” cup competition three times. Since the 2016/17 season, Moss has been in the service of the Italian league newcomer Basket Brescia Leonessa.

Career

After graduating from Thornwood High School in South Holland (Illinois) , where he won a state championship with Eddy Curry, among others , Moss received a place at Indiana State University , where he worked for the Sycamores high school team in the Missouri Valley from 2002 to 2006 Conference (MVC) of the NCAA played. The Sycamores had been able to qualify for the national NCAA finals tournament in 2000 and 2001 for the first time since the times of NBA legend Larry Bird in 1979 . Although Moss was one of the top performers of the team as a freshman from the start , he did not succeed in winning the title in the MVC or qualifying for an important postseason tournament. At the end of his four-year NCAA career, Moss was ranked 5th in the team's internal leaderboard with 1,562 points on the “All-Time Scorers List”.

After Moss was not selected in the NBA Draft 2006 of the highest endowed professional league NBA, he began a career as a professional player at the Polpak club from Świecie in the Polska Liga Koszykówki . For the 2007/08 season Moss moved to the second Italian division Legadue , where he played for the club Aurora Basket from Jesi . With this club he won the league cup of this division, but in the final series of the promotion play-offs Aurora Jesi failed to Pepsi Caserta , who were able to secure the remaining promotion place. Coach Andrea Capobianco then moved to the first division club Banca Tercas in Teramo and took player Moss with him to Abruzzo . Teramo played the most successful season in the club's history and moved in third in the table for the first time in the play-offs for the championship, in which, however, they lost to record champions Olimpia Armani Milan in the first round. In addition to Jaycee Carroll , who moved to Spain, Moss then left the club and was signed by the master Montepaschi Siena, who, however, first loaned him to Virtus Canadian Solar from Bologna in the 2009/10 season . With Virtus, Moss lost the final game in the Coppa Italia cup competition against series champion and defending champion Montepaschi. Then Moss had to admit defeat with Bologna again in the first play-off round, this time after five games against NGC Cantù .

For the 2010/11 season, Moss finally moved into the squad of Siena and played for the club for the first time in the top-tier European club competition ULEB Euroleague 2010/11 , in which the team finished third. After defending the doubles in the national championship and Coppa Italia, Siena was eliminated in the quarter-final play-offs of the ULEB Euroleague 2011/12 against the eventual title winner Olympiacos . Siena defended the double again in 2012, but the club's financial resources were then almost exhausted. In the ULEB Euroleague 2012/13 they were eliminated before the quarter-finals and in the national championship defending champion Siena reached the play-offs in fifth place of the regular season, in which they go over the maximum distance of seven games in the first two rounds had to in order to finally win the double in the final series for the fifth time in a row. Then the team broke up and Moss switched to record champions Olimpia Armani from Milan , with whom he qualified comparatively confidently for the quarter-final play-offs in the ULEB Euroleague 2013/14 . Here you had home rights against Maccabi Tel Aviv in the first game and were favored to reach the Final Four , which was played in front of a home crowd in Milan's Mediolanum Forum . But Maccabi prevailed in the play-off series and then won the title at the Final Four in Milan. In the Italian national championship, after seven games in the final series, Milan defeated the defending champions and Moss' former team from Siena, who won the title in Italy for the fourth time in a row.
