life and career
David Sheiner began his acting career in the 1950s, including an appearance in the Broadway comedy Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter? between 1955 and 1956. As early as 1952, he made his first appearance on the then young US television with a guest appearance in the Tom Corbett series , Space Cadet . But it wasn't until the beginning of the 1960s that his career took off here, in the following decades he played guest roles as well as recurring supporting roles in numerous popular series such as The Twilight Zone , Kobra, Take Over , Bonanza , Hawaii Five-Zero , Columbo , Quincy and Murder is her hobby . Often he embodied serious-looking figures such as lawyers, officers, civil servants or doctors.
From the end of the 1950s, Sheiner also appeared in some movies as a supporting actor, for example in the Bible film The Greatest Story of All Time (1965) as the Apostle James the Elder and alongside Jackie Chan in the action film The Big Brawl (1980). Probably his most famous film role was played as card player Roy in the comedy A Strange Couple (1968) opposite Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau . Of the six cast of the card round in this film, Sheiner is the only survivor today.
David Sheiner withdrew from the film and television business in the late 1980s. He has been married to screenwriter Mary-David Sheiner since 1968 and has two children with her.
