Creation and publication

The recordings on the album were made in 2006 when the band recorded the single Human within two hours . Producer Stuart Price was in London during the writing process and demo recording , while the band was in Las Vegas . The album received mostly positive reviews from music critics . Metascore awards an average of 69% based on 31 reviews and the predicate "generally favorable" (dt. "Generally positive" )

Laut.de awards a positive rating and four out of five possible stars as a rating. Critic Max Brandl writes in his review that the band has managed to develop positively, where many bands would fail.

Stephen Thomas Erlewine from allmusic.com also awards four out of five stars and also says that the change in style was good for the album. He describes the album as a "grotesque but great album."

Cdstarts.de awards 6.5 out of 10 possible points. Editor Tanja Kraus praises the stylistic U-turn, but also criticizes the fact that it does not come close to the previous albums in terms of quality.

British BBC's Chris Long rates the album rather average. For him, Day & Age is still in the development process and the band themselves don't yet know where the band's style is going.

Plattentests.de rated the album as negative with three out of ten points . Critic Christian Preußer is of the opinion that producer Stuart Price in particular is to blame for the fact that the album sounds like a bad record from the 80s.
