The Departamento Veinticinco de Mayo is located in the center of the province of Chaco in northwest Argentina and is one of 25 administrative units in the province.

It borders the Libertador General San Martín to the north and west, the Sargento Cabral and Presidencia de la Plaza departments to the east, the Tapenagá department to the south, and the San Lorenzo and Quitilipi departments to the west .

Machagai is the capital of the Department of Veinticinco de Mayo . It is 120 kilometers from the provincial capital Resistencia and 1,140 kilometers from Buenos Aires .
