action

Joachim Faber has been a widower for five years and lives with his 18-year-old daughter. As the director of a polytechnic high school in Potsdam , he is under great professional pressure. In addition to failures in the teaching staff and unfinished manual work, he is also burdened by the demands of the school authorities for better grades from his students. The quarrel of a 10th grade with the construction workers of their sponsor brigade in the context of the subject "PA" causes particular trouble . After an escalation due to mutual written accusations, the director has to go to the school board. Ultimately, students and workers come to the conclusion that only a face-to-face meeting of the two parties can bring a solution.

At the time he met Bettina Bräuer in traffic. After two more chance encounters, Faber's interest in the woman grows and he tries to get in touch. The activities that finally came about (visit to the fairground and an intimate evening at Faber) proceed harmoniously. And yet Bettina Bräuer shows herself very dismissive several times when it comes to a common future. She is reluctant to give the reason for the rejection of a committed relationship: She has an 8-year-old deaf and mute son who will always be the most important person in her life. After a few days, Faber seeks to meet mother and son, during which the final scene leads to an ice cream meal together.

Reviews

“Entertaining little Pennäler film for GDR TV by Helmut Krätzig based on a template by Erich Schlossarek. Especially the amusing interplay of the two television favorites Ulrich Thein ('Polizeiruf 110') and Barbara Dittus ('Our teacher Dr. Specht') provides the right shot of romance to almost two hours of real everyday poetry. ” Kino.de
