life and work

Regina Beyer was born in Berlin as the daughter of an engineer and a clerk. After graduating from high school and training as a film copier, she worked as a photo model before hiring director Rolf Losansky in 1964 for his short film Motorcycle Heroes. Although she was only allowed to play a small supporting role in this film production, Beyer decided to become an actress.

She began her acting studies in 1965 at the University of Film and Television Potsdam-Babelsberg and worked on the side for various DEFA feature films such as 1967 in Kurt Maetzig's Das Mädchen auf dem Brett or in 1968 in the coat-and-sword film Hauptmann Florian von der Mühle von Film director Werner W. Wallroth at the side of Manfred Krug . This film made her known nationwide in what was then the GDR , so that in 1969 - after completing her studies with a diploma - she became a member of the DEFA ensemble, to which she belonged until it was dissolved in 1990.

In addition to major feature film productions for DEFA, she began working increasingly for GDR television from the 1970s. In addition to countless television films and series such as Klärchen in Egmont in 1974 , she was the preferred actress of director Helmut Krätzig , who used her in the television series Polizeiruf 110 .

She later worked in the feature film Cosimas Lexikon and in television series such as Elbflorenz and Liebling Kreuzberg .

Regina Beyer is married for the second time and lives with her husband, the actor Volkmar Kleinert , in Berlin-Treptow. In her first marriage she was married to the actor Frank Obermann , with whom she has a daughter.
