British crime writer Thomas Grace (Roger Moore) is the author of successful series novels. Today he lives in the USA and works as a journalist for a regional newspaper. He created the villain of this series based on the real model of the murderer Bernhard Drake. He allegedly died in prison during a fire, but reports to Grace. Nobody believes him. But a little later, a series of murders begins in London that corresponds to Grace's books. But Grace leaves no stone unturned and goes in search of Bernhard Drake and is able to stop him at the last moment with the help of the attractive student and waitress Jessie, who has the gift of the "second face".
