Deutmecke is a district of Finnentrop in the middle Frettertal with around 300 inhabitants.

history

Deutmecke belongs to the parish of Schönholthausen . Early clues about the size of Deutmecke can be found in an appraisal register (used to collect taxes) from 1543. According to this, there were 8 taxpayers in “Dietmeck” (former place name) at that time. The number of those liable for the treasury is likely to have roughly matched the existing families or houses. Henrich zu Dietmick accounted for the greatest tax burden with one gold gulden. The derivation of this name from the earlier place name suggests that it must have been a wealthy and important person.

Chapel in Deutmecke

The chapel is located in the valley of the Fretterbach in the center of the village below today's L737 / L880 road. As the patron saint of the chapel, she is led by St. Agatha. It was built around 1700 as a single-nave chapel with a 3/8 end, roof turret and wooden ceiling. The entrance is on the west side.
