Diocese of Warsaw
The diocese of Warsaw (Polish Diecezja warszawska ) is one of six dioceses of the Evangelical-Augsburg (Lutheran) Church in Poland . The official seat is in Łódź .
Geographical location
The diocese of Warsaw is located in the east of Poland and extends to the border with Belarus and the Ukraine . In the south it borders on the diocese of Katowice , in the west on the diocese of Pomerania-Greater Poland and in the north on the diocese of Mazury . With an area of more than 90,000 km², it is the largest of the six Polish dioceses and includes the voivodeships of Łódź , Lublin , Heiligkreuz and Mazovia .
structure
The bishop (or until 1995 the senior ) has the spiritual direction of the diocese . He is also the spiritual head of the 21 pastors in the diocese. The incumbent was Mieczysław Cieślar from 1996 to 2010 . Jan Cieślar has held the post since 2010 .
Together with the diocesan curator Karol Werner and the spiritual councilor Wojciech Rudkowski, the bishop forms the diocesan council.
The highest decision-making body is the diocesan synod , to which all parishes send their delegates. In addition, the diocese sends delegates to the Synod of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland.

Before 1945, the Diocese of Warsaw had 17 parishes and three subsidiary churches. The senior was the spiritual leader , most recently before 1945 in the person of consistorial councilor August Loth .
