Katowice Diocese
The diocese of Katowice (Polish: diecezja katowicka) is one of six dioceses of the Polish Evangelical-Augsburg, d. H. Lutheran Church . The official seat is in Katowice .
Geographical location
The diocese is located in the south of Poland and extends in the east to the border with Ukraine , in the south to the border with the Czech Republic , borders in the west on the diocese of Wroclaw, in the north on the dioceses of Pomerania-Greater Poland and Warsaw . With the exception of Cieszyn Silesia in the south, which forms the diocese of Cieszyn , the diocese of Katowice includes the Polish voivodeships of Silesia , Opole , Lesser Poland and Subcarpathian .

The diocesan bishop is the spiritual director of the diocese . He is also the spiritual head of the 32 pastors of the diocese, who are active in 41 parishes and also across parishes.

Diocesan Council
The bishop forms the diocesan council with the diocesan curator, the clergy and the diocesan council.
Diocesan Synod
The highest decision-making body is the diocesan synod , to which all parishes send their delegates. In addition, the diocese is represented by members of the Synod of the Evangelical Augsburg Church in Poland .
Church office
The central office of the diocese was in Chorzów until 1950 , then in Zabrze until 1981 and in Bytom -Miechowice until 2002 . Since 2002 it has been located at ul. Warszawska 18 in 40-006 Katowice, not far from the Church of the Resurrection .
