Warszowice ( German Warschowitz ) is a village with a Schulzenamt of the municipality Pawłowice in the Powiat Pszczyński of the Silesian Voivodeship in Poland .

Neighboring towns are Stadtory in the north, Mizerów in the east, Studzionka in the southeast, Pawłowice in the east, Krzyżowice in the west.

history

The village is in Upper Silesia .

The place was first mentioned in a document around 1305 in the Liber fundationis episcopatus Vratislaviensis (tenth register of the diocese of Breslau ) as an item in Warsowitz debent esse triginta novem mansi .

Politically, the village belonged to the Duchy of Ratibor in the time of Polish particularism . Since 1327 consisted suzerainty of the Kingdom of Bohemia and since 1526 it belonged to the Habsburg monarchy . On February 21, 1517 it was sold to the Free State of Pless and mentioned as Wrssowicze . After the First Silesian War and the preliminary peace of Breslau (1742) it belonged to the Kingdom of Prussia .

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on the future membership of Upper Silesia in 1921, 342 of 639 voters voted for Poland, against 296 votes for Germany.

After the Polish annexation of East Upper Silesia in 1922, Warszowice became part of Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II .

From 1975 to 1998 Warszowice was part of the Katowice Voivodeship .
