production

The concept of getting the characters of the novel on television had existed for many years. In the beginning, CBS wanted to produce the series. Lukas Reiter wrote a script for the series, which should take place 10 years after the end of the novel. He presented this script to John Grisham . After John Grisham helped produce the first couple of episodes, his outlook for the series was confident.

At the end of April 2011, Sony Pictures Television ordered 22 episodes of the series. The series was also broadcast on AXN . As a result, it was seen in 125 countries alongside Canada and the United States . A short time later it was announced that NBC had secured the broadcast rights for the series. The 22 episode series was the longest newly ordered series of the season.

The series was produced in Toronto by Entertainment One , Sony Pictures Television and Paramount Pictures . The entire production of the 22 episodes lasted from August 4, 2011 to April 30, 2012. The pilot episode was directed by David Straiton . One of the executive producers was Grisham himself. Another was Lukas Reiter, who had been a producer on several Law & Order episodes.

Charisma

The first two episodes of the series aired on January 8, 2012, following an episode of Up All Night . This episode was seen by 6.32 million viewers.

Due to a broadcast break on February 9, 2012, NBC dropped a week behind Global in broadcasting, with the result that Chapter Seven was first broadcast on Global. The last episode aired on June 30, 2012 on Global and July 14, 2012 on NBC. NBC had already canceled the series in May 2012.

In October 2011, the pay TV broadcaster AXN secured the broadcasting rights for the German-speaking countries . The broadcast took place from January 14th to March 25th 2014 in double episodes. In the summer of 2013, the TV station RTL Nitro announced that it would broadcast the series in the course of the coming 2013/14 season. On April 25, 2014, the broadcast on free-to-air television began in double episodes under the German title Die Firma and thus took over the Friday evening broadcasting slot for Undercovers .
