action

When Hercules defeated Cerberus, he was put under a curse: Woe to your son when he enters the royal house. Ten years later, Hylos, his son, falls in love with Thea, daughter of Eurytus, King of Ekalien. Hercules is mindful of the curse against the relationship, which plays into the hands of his old enemy Eurytus - who would like to subjugate the rich Thebes, which so far failed because of Hercules' resistance - who now sees a means of pressure against him. He captures Hylos and tells him that Hercules wants Thea for himself. With the help of his sinister advisor Tyndarus, he also gets Mistress Alcinoe to deliver Hercules poison. But he saves Alcinoe from a bear, and they fall in love.

Eurytus now, allegedly on behalf of Thea, gives Hercules another potion that is supposed to heal lovesickness. That doesn't work either; Hercules goes to rescue his son, who is about to be trampled by elephants. Meanwhile, a centaur captures Hercules' wife Deianira and delivers her to Eurytus. Hercules gathers his strength and brings the city walls to collapse; the bad die, the good prevail.

criticism

In the lexicon of fantasy films , Ronald M. Hahn / Volker Jansen, Norbert Stresau note : "The extent to which the German distributors have contributed to this truly captivating mixture of Wirr & Warr is in the stars". Francesco Minnini writes: "The boundaries of the genre become clear, but the director does it with joy and irony". Segnalazioni cinematigrafiche praised the coloring and photography, and the lexicon of international films also said that "the Italian" muscle-and-sandal film "is one of the better examples of the genre."
